Diana, Princess of Wales
In the 19th century memorial samplers were a very traditional way for embroiderers to give tribute and remember someone special they had lost. This sampler is dedicated to the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.
It features her home at Kensington Palace, her childhood home and final resting place at Althorp House. The border of the sampler is a tiny, white rosebuds and the design includes white lilies, flowers, doves of peace and in keeping with the tradition of memorial samplers, weeping willows. The lovely words are taken from the poem "Time" (anon) which was read by Diana's sister, Jane Fellows at her funeral.
The sampler is stitched on 14 count aida and the finished size is 12" x 10" (30cm x 25cm).

Sir Walter Scott Sampler Kit
This nostalgic sampler is a tribute to the great Scottish writer, Sir Walter Scott. As well as his most famous words from poems such as 'The Lay of the last Minstrel', this sampler depicts some of his favourite haunts in the Borders, his beautiful home at Abbotsford and other locations which influenced his writing. The border of the sampler is particularly interesting as it was inspired by the design on the banister in Scott's study at Abbotsford. There are many small, fascinating motifs throughout the sampler all of which have particular significance. Full details of these motifs are given within the kit.
