Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Sampler
On Sunday 31 August 1997 the world woke to the news that Diana, Princess of Wales had tragically died in a car accident.
She left behind her an extraordinary life.
The young girl, who married the Prince of Wales, was a wonderful mother to their two sons, William and Harry, and one of the world’s most beautiful women. She was a very caring person, giving her time and dedication to rose less fortunate
than herself.
In the 19th century memorial samplers were a very traditional way for embroiderers to give tribute and remember someone special they had lost. This sampler is dedicated to the life of Diana. It features her home at Kensington Palace, her childhood home and final resting place at Althorp House. The border of the sampler is tiny white rosebuds and the design includes white lilies, flowers, doves of peace and in keeping with the traditional of memorial samplers, weeping willows. The lovely words are taken from the poem “Time” (anon) which was read by Diana’s sister Lady Jane Fellows at her funeral.
The kit includes 14 count aida, threads, a golden needle, an excellent chart with instructions designed for
beginners to cross stitch.
The finished size is 12” x 10” (30cm x 25cm).
