The design for this sampler is a tribute to the influential founder of the Arts and Crafts movement and innovative textile and furnishing designer, William Morris. The sampler not only reflects his unique style as a designer, but also acknowledges his multi-faceted talents, by featuring excerpts from his writings and poetry. He was also founder of the Kelmscott Press, which he set up at his home, Kelmscott Manor as a medium for his writing and exquisite book design. Morris used many colours in his work and this embroidery would look equally lovely in shades of blue and green.
